Nymph - The (Purest) Maple Syrup

A New England pond classic invented by Maine angler and tyer Alvin Theriault. Meant to imitate the Hex mayfly, dragonfly or damsel, it's a killer in ponds and during big river hatches, and can be fished as a nymph or as a streamer. We tend to tie ours in a nymph likeness, with a classic custard yellow, dragonfly peacock, and our favorite, a darker caramel. We also modify the recipe with a longer mallard flank tail and beadhead, instead of unweighted with calf tail, and offer a hackled version too.
